Practical questions
A new rash at night: record medicines and warning signs
A new rash cannot safely be diagnosed by matching internet photographs. Severe illness, breathing difficulty, swelling of the mouth or throat, a painful blistering rash or sores affecting the mouth or eyes needs urgent assessment. Use 998 for a suspected life-threatening emergency rather than waiting for a photo reply.

Build a short timeline
Note when the rash appeared, where it started and how it is spreading. Include fever, pain, itch and any new medicine, supplement or skin product, with names and timing. Tell the clinician what has already been taken or applied; do not select a diagnosis from whether a rash looks familiar.

Use photographs as context, not a clearance
If requested, use a verified care channel and avoid unnecessary identifying details. A photograph may help describe progression but cannot assess every serious skin reaction or rule out urgent illness. Do not delay help while improving lighting, posting publicly or waiting for others to identify a rash.

Get urgent advice about suspected medicine reactions
Severe skin or mucosal symptoms after a medicine need immediate professional instructions, not another internet remedy or borrowed treatment. Provide the packets or medicine list to the assessing team. This article gives no personalised instruction to continue, stop or restart a prescription; emergency professionals must assess the reaction and act on it promptly.

Common questions
Can a photo rule out a dangerous medicine reaction?
No. Severe or worsening symptoms need appropriate assessment.
Should I mention new supplements as well as prescriptions?
Yes. Give the names and timing of all relevant products.
Should I post identifying rash photos publicly?
Use a verified private care route when images are requested.
