Headache at night in Dubai: when not to wait

Do not assume a headache is harmless because it began after a stressful day. A sudden extremely severe headache, new weakness, confusion or other possible neurological emergency needs immediate medical help. In Dubai, call 998 for a suspected life-threatening emergency rather than waiting for a 24-hour doctor enquiry to be answered.

Say how quickly the pain began

Explain whether the pain built gradually or started abruptly, whether this pattern is new, and whether there was an injury. Mention changes in vision, speech, strength, alertness or fever and neck symptoms. A checklist cannot exclude every serious cause; if the change is alarming or rapidly worsening, seek prompt professional help rather than self-diagnosing.

Keep medicine information accurate

Tell the clinician what you have taken, including the product name and timing, and mention blood-thinning medicines or relevant conditions. Do not keep adding pain medicines because the first dose did not help. Ask a qualified professional about suitability and the next step; this article gives no individual medicine or dosing instructions.

Agree a review plan if it is not an emergency

For a non-emergency headache, describe frequency, associated symptoms and how daily activity is affected. Ask when symptoms should be reviewed again and what changes mean seek care sooner. Do not drive yourself if symptoms impair safe driving, and do not interpret improvement as proof that every serious cause has been ruled out.
