Practical questions
Night-time wheeze: use the action plan, not a booking queue
Severe breathing difficulty or a worsening asthma attack can be life-threatening. Follow your personal action plan and call 998 for emergency help when symptoms are severe, worsening or not responding as the plan says. Do not wait for a home-doctor booking to substitute for emergency care.
General information for adults. Not a substitute for medical assessment.

Describe breathing, not just a wheezing sound
Tell the clinician whether you can speak normally, how quickly symptoms changed and what treatment has already been used. Say whether asthma was diagnosed and whether you have an individual action plan. New wheeze can have several causes; a recording does not establish a diagnosis or safe treatment.

Use your own agreed instructions
Keep the prescribed inhaler information and action plan available. Different inhaler regimens are not interchangeable, so do not copy a friend’s number of puffs or borrow medicine. If you are unsure what the plan means during worsening symptoms, seek real-time professional help rather than interpreting an online routine as your prescription.

Arrange follow-up after the acute episode
Recovery from an attack still warrants prompt review with the treating team. Ask about the written plan, correct inhaler use and what to do if symptoms wake you at night again. A late-night call should support continuity of care, not create a second conflicting treatment plan or a promise that symptoms will not recur.

Common questions
Does all wheeze mean asthma?
No. New or changing breathing symptoms need appropriate assessment.
Can I copy someone else’s inhaler instructions?
No. Follow your own clinician-agreed plan.
Does feeling better remove the need for review?
No. Arrange appropriate follow-up after an attack.
Sources and information limits
Sources support general medical principles, not the UAE booking policies or service availability. Confirm instructions and local arrangements with the care provider. The update date does not claim clinician review.
Content policy and review statusQuestions before arranging an appointment?
Enquire about the next steps and availability. An enquiry does not confirm a booking or diagnosis and is not an emergency service.
